Happy 50th anniversary Tee Jays!
From garage to manufacturing powerhouse
Terry’s motto was ‘concentrate and dominate’. He understood the importance of a limited, curated product selection and excelled at it.
To this day, the founders’ names are still represented by the two capital letters in the logo.

What began in a small Alabama garage has grown into a European premium apparel brand defined by craftsman- ship and attention to detail. This year, Tee Jays celebrates its 50th anniversary.
The garage with 25 sewing machines soon grew into a fully vertically integrated production facility encompassing knitting, dyeing, cutting, sewing and screen printing. In 1979, Terry met Danish importer Georg Høfler at a trade show in California. He appointed Georg as the European sales manager. Georg and Terry became lifelong friends.
Two friends, Terry and Jim, founded TEE JAYS Mfg. Co. Their adventure began in a garage in Florence, Alabama, where they focused on producing high-quality T-shirts. They started with 25 old sewing machines, local fabrics and a great deal of passion. Although Jim decided to leave the company after a few years, Terry Wylie continued to pursue the dream.
